About Me
Welcome!
Welcome to Kindred Hearts Doula Care! My name is Cary. I am a mom, wife, photographer, property manager and Doula, lactation consultant and childbirth educator. I am passionate about all things birth and babies! My dream is for every woman to have the birth experience they hope for.
My journey here took me completely by surprise. One year before I got pregnant with our daughter, I experienced a pregnancy loss. I started to educate myself on healthy prenatal care along with options for my next pregnancy and birth. It took us 8 months of trying, but we finally got pregnant one year (almost to the day) after our first conception. This journey taught me patience, frustration, heartache and the ultimate joy of finally having a healthy pregnancy/baby. It also taught me how much stigma, fear and shame there is around birth, loss and the difficult period of trying to conceive.
Through my research, I decided to have a natural birth. Originally I was concerned at not having a hospital birth, but I soon realized that for me, a midwife natural (water!) birth was where I felt I could birth freely and safely without intervention.
In my pregnancy, I was faced with a few challenges. I became hypoglycemic (one step from gestational diabetes), and my baby was breach requiring an External Cephalic Version at 37 weeks pregnant. While neither of these were enjoyable experiences, they did lead me to further my education on breech births and nutritional importance before, during and after pregnancy.
As a Doula, I am an advocate for all childbearing persons and give my clients a chance to make informed decisions rather than fear based ones no matter where they are birthing. I am committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate, non-judgemental birth support for pregnant persons and their families.
